Vaporizers
Effective: 1 - 3 hours
Vaporizers are convenient pen-shaped devices that are more discreet than traditional options, like a joint. They are odorless, portable, and require virtually no heating time. Vaporizers are often filled with oil cartridges, and vaporize the marijuana instead of combusting it, releasing the active compounds without unhealthy contaminants that you’d find in smoke. Regardless of your experience level, the effects are felt almost immediately, making this the most efficient way for your body to process marijuana.
Edibles
Effective: 3 - 6 hours
There’s more than brownies here—edibles are a delicious way to consume marijuana without smoking or gadgets. They’re easy to measure out and dose on your own, and they’re as discreet as your afternoon snack. Unlike smoking, the THC takes a while to reach your bloodstream because it has to be digested by the stomach first. The effects are stronger and longer-lasting—but they also take longer to realize, which means you should start with the lowest dosage possible if it’s your first time.
Flowers
Effective: 1 - 3 hours
These are your traditional marijuana flower buds—unprocessed and straight from the plant to your joint, pipe, bong or vaporizer. They are cut, dried, and cured for optimal consistency and consumption.
Prerolls
Effective: 1 - 3 hours
Prerolls are traditional joints—except the work of rolling is already done for you. These pre-rolled joints make great gifts, party favors, or stash-and-dash smokes for yourself. They’re great for beginners who may not know how to roll, and convenient for experienced consumers who want something quick and quality-controlled. Pre-rolls are available in most strains and and come in a variety of quantities and sizes.
Topicals
Effective: 1 - 6 hours
Topicals are balms, lotions, creams, sprays, patches, and bath products used solely for external application—usually on the skin. Topicals are mostly non-psychoactive, meaning they will not get you high. However, some transdermal patches deliver THC through your skin and will get you high. Most topicals have high amounts of CBD for pain relief (great for athletes, people recovering from surgery or suffering from chronic pain, etc).
Drops
Effective: 5 - 6 hours
Drops are essentially concentrated cannabis-infused tinctures. Whether you don’t want to smoke or you’re looking for a low-calorie alternative to edibles, drops are a potent and simple way to get started—if you follow directions and build up incrementally. Drop them under your tongue for a fast-acting and long-lasting effect.
Concentrates
Effective: 2 - 3 hours
Concentrates are highly potent cannabis extracts. They come in a variety of forms, including wax, shatter, hash, BHO, crumble and resin. We generally don’t recommend products in this category to beginners, as they are very strong and often require specialized equipment, like a dab rig, to use.
